GRAND FALLS, NEW BRUNSWICK
About Us

Founded
The WSTC (Wood Science and Technology Centre) was established in 1988 with start-up fund from federal (ACOA) and provincial (New Brunswick) government.

Excellence and Professionalism
The WSTC is administered by a management team leb by the Director and directed by its Advisory Board that consists of a variety of industries and of the UNB VP Research and the Dean of the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Management.

Involvement
WSTC has grown from a small regional research centre to one which is now nationally and internationally recognized, particularly for its strength in wood engineering.
WSTC is now one of the most successful and active research centres at UNB.
Working closely with the university and governments, WSTC established the Canadian BioEnergy Centre (CBEC) through its active involvement in development and testing of solid biofuels.

Recognized
WSTC is recognized by the Canadian Construction Material Centre and the International Council of Building Research Studies and Documentation.
The Centre is also an approved agency for evaluation of kilns under Canadian Food Inspection Agency's Program for wood products and is a member of Pellet Fuels Institute (PFI) since 2008.
